Want to share some of the design team's programs in my current company, starting from work sync, bonding, sharing, etc. May be useful for those who want to try to do it with the team.

๐Ÿงต Design team program ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Before discussing them one by one, here I first list what programs are there and what category are the programs in, let's:

  • Design Buddy (Bonding)

  • Design team meeting (Sync)

  • Design crit (Sharing)

  • JP/US Sharing knowledge (Sharing)

  • JP/US Fast feedback (Sharing)

  • Offsite Design (Bonding & Evaluate)

Explain one by one from weekly to quarterly:

Design Buddy (Weekly to Biweekly to Monthly - 30 minutes)

This is for designers who have just joined, they will be paired with other designers to help with adaptation processes. The first week, there is a daily check-in. From the second to the fourth week it becomes Biweekly and the second month until I pass the probation is Monthly.

โ€

Design team meeting (Weekly - 30 minutes)

The goal is standard. Special topics/announcements and updates in the past week on what needs to be synced between a design team.

โ€

Design crit (Weekly - 1 hour)

In one design crit session, there will be 2 presenters, each will get 30 minutes to share their work and be criticized. The schedule has been determined by the Design program manager (DesignOps) team, who and when to share it.

From that 30 minutes to 10 minutes the presenters set the product context review and define what type of feedback they are looking for. Then 5 minutes everyone writes their feedback on the Notion page that has been made and in the last 15 minutes the feedback is shared in two directions.

Before the design crit session, the presenter gave the link and feedback he was looking for on the Notion page (attach image)

โ€

JP/US Knowledge Sharing (Weekly - 30 minutes)

This is more of a free sharing session if there is something interesting about anything. But separated into two, there is a designer based in Japan and one based in the US. If no one wants to share that week, we will cancel the meeting. But so far, there is always one person who wants to share something.

โ€

JP/US Fast Feedback (Weekly - 30 minutes)

This is the same, situational. If anyone needs quick feedback without having to wait for design crit, everyone can use this session. If no one wants to share, we usually use it for small talk and bonding. I usually use it to ask questions about Japanese behavior in this session, lol

โ€

Design Offsite (Quarterly - 1.5 hours)

This is really fun, apart from reviewing the quarterly performance, there are usually fun sessions like inviting magicians, painting glasses together, etc., etc. And in the last 30 minutes, it's usually retro and what plans we have to improve for next quarter

The most different thing right here is the design crit, the cycle is quite fast and the initial time is quite nervous. But it turns out that we can throw the smallest progress, no problem, so we can quickly get feedback and iterate.

End of Thread. Thank you for reading.
